Interviewing Tips for Managers

Before the interview:

  • Set time and location.
  • Be sure pre-hire paperwork is completed and printed.
  • Review the candidate’s paperwork.
  • Have your list of questions ready!



During the interview:

  • Make them comfortable.
  • Set the agenda.
  • Ask questions!
  • Open-ended questions
  • Close-ended questions
  • Hypothetical questions
  • Use the 80/20 rule!
  • Review the job description clearly and any compensation
    plans.
  • Ask the candidate “what questions do you have for me?'
  • Explain next steps.
