Interviewing Tips for Managers
Before the interview:
- Set time and location.
- Be sure pre-hire paperwork is completed and printed.
- Review the candidate’s paperwork.
- Have your list of questions ready!
During the interview:
- Make them comfortable.
- Set the agenda.
- Ask questions!
- Open-ended questions
- Close-ended questions
- Hypothetical questions
- Use the 80/20 rule!
- Review the job description clearly and any compensation
plans. - Ask the candidate “what questions do you have for me?'
- Explain next steps.
